I just saw an ad on tv in Holland from the South African Tourism Board. It portrays Johannesburg as one of the safest city's in the world. Are they reffering to the same Johannesburg I know? If you're ever in Durban DO NOT stay at the Royal Hotel in Anton Lembede Street. The only thing more rotten than the food they serve is the attitude of the frontline staff! Unless you don't mind sleeping on a tiny single bed in a room with a broken TV that makes a horrible noise! There must be better hotels even in Hillbrow!

I spent a night at Leaves Lodge in Nelspruit. I had previously provided an authorisation to deduct the deposit from my credit card account. When I left, I was presented with an invoice which I settled in full. I was surprised to find that an additional R165 was deducted from my credit card account without my authorisation. I later found out that this was supposed to be for a meal. I did have the meal. so that's ok, but I never received an invoice and did not authorise the deduction....

The most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. The room was dirty and stank. The bed was dirty and stank - there was a slug in the bed. The floor was filthy, the shower was broken. The toilet was broken, the shower was broken and the bath had brown stains on it. The booking agent (safarinow.com) advertised mnet in the room. Firstly I waited for the bus for hours, was there at 6:30 for the 7:00pm but but the bus arrived at around 8pm to 9pm. Then I got to the table and they stamped and signed on my return ticket instead of the one I was supposed to use to go to Harare. I was suppose to go down to Pietermaritzburg on the 28/09/2012. The bus was 1 hour late, plus when my bus arrived, the bus driver did not wait for me. A Late bus is acceptable, but allowing your "valued" customers to wait in cold weather without the decency to inform them that the bus will be late?! That is just pathetic communication. One Text message or a call to the bus stop would have made a big difference!
